15/1/2010Wind Hydrogen Appeal the Rejection of their Wings Law Planning Application and other Wind Hydrogen News

Article from Save Your Regional Park Campaign Newsletter no 20 January 2010

The Scottish Government has appointed a Reporter, Mrs Jill Moody, to conduct a Public Local Inquiry (PLI). A Pre-meeting was held in Radio City, Kilbirnie on 2nd December which was attended by representatives of the following organisations:-
SYRP / SCNP, CMRP, North Ayrshire Council, Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH), National Air Traffic Services (NATS & NERL), RSPB and a number of private individuals.

It had been the Reporter's intention to hold the PLI in April 2010 but Wind
Hydrogen had very recently requested additional time to allow them to undertake more field work during the spring and summer of 2010. This was necessary to enable them to asses the impact on the Special Protection Area (SPA) in greater detail. This was agreed, with considerable reluctance, subject to WHL producing a running assessment by mid June and a final report by mid September 2010. A further Pre-meeting will be held in Radio City, Kilbirnie on Monday 28th June 2010 at which all concerned will be fully updated and a date in December 2010 set for commencement of the PLI.

In recent announcements to the Australian Stock Exchange, Wind Hydrogen stated "That the final permitting is 12 months away". This is an extraordinary and highly questionable statement to make and SYRP have written a letter to John Swinney MSP, Cabinet Secretary, Finance & Sustainable Growth to ask whether a 'deal' has been done between Scottish Ministers and the company or any potential new owner of the Wings Law application.

Wind Hydrogen also announced that agreement had been reached, with an unspecified major European Utility, on 9th December. The agreement provides an upfront payment of £200,000 and a sale price of up to £14m for the sale of "a windfarm" (Wings Law?) if the option to purchase is exercised.

SNP Scottish Government have repeatedly overturned planning applications rightly refused by council. Despite the SNP MSPs pretence, and amateurish private members bill, it is SNP policy to increase renewables and they have changed the planning policy in favour of such developments. Unless a compelling case can be made this application will be granted by the SNP.
I would welcome it.
