5/11/2008Thanks from the organisers of the Three Towns Fireworks Display

The Three Towns Fireworks Display was held on Sunday 2nd November and the organisers would like to thank everyone who attended the display, attendance being up on last year.

The Council had worked hard to get the Braes car park completed for the event with the new lighting going in place on the Sunday morning, the public toilet was also kept open late, all for the benefit of those in attendance at the display.

The fireworks this year were only possable due to grant funding and donations recieved. The main donors were Cunninghame Housing Association, Irvine Bay URC, Moffat Trust, Saltcoats Community Council, Stevenston and Saltcoats Common Good, North Ayrshire Council and Cullis Amusements, Windmill Centre.

Thanks also to HM Coastguard, St Andrews Ambulace, the Police and Fire services and it is also worth repeating the thanks for the in kind support by North Ayrshire Council.

In an appeal for more volunteers to assist with the event as a whole, I would ask anyone interested in helping out even if only on the night to be in touch, the committee for the event can be counted on one hand but it does need more community interest to make the event happen next year.

Unlike other towns, your display is free to attend and as long as is possable this will be maintained. Like any event organiser we welcome the public's comments and suggestions on the event this year. The date in mind next year is Sunday 1st November.
