Petrol prices

Can anyone explain why Tesco Petrol in Ayr is £1.09

While it is £1.16  in Kilbirnie?

John Crawford says

Because Tesco know what the competition is in the Garnock Valley and fix their price accordingly. They don't use the Ayr prices. If a local gargae was to sell petrol at £1.10, Tesco would sell it at £1.09

Harry McDougall says

I very rarely buy my petrol from Tesco in Kilbirnie. As I normally work out of Paisley I buy it there; even with the 5p off offer that they have from time to time it is still cheaper to purchase it in Paisley.

I think its called Tescopoly......

Billy Long says

You are lucky you have 3 petrol stations in Kilbirnie as Dalry has none! Morrison's offer £5 gift voucher to spend in their stores if you collect over 5000 points when you fuel up at their garages. Money for nothing really.

John Millar says

The reason is the opening of a new Sainsbury supermarket in Prestwick in July. If Sainsbury never opened in Prestwick then Tesco would have been selling their petrol in AYR at the same price in Kilbirnie.
