Let's make a list: the Best of the Best in Kilbirnie

It's the end of the year and the end of a decade - times can be tough, but let's instead dwell on the GOOD things which have happened in the last ten years.

We might be facing turmoil and great challenges - financial, environmental, political, local - but let's see if we can make a list of everything that's been GOOD here in Kilbirnie.

So what are the best things to happen to Kilbirnie over the last decade? Think of great events, local heroes, sports victories, town improvements and positive developments, shared joys or happy memories.

Post your suggestions and we'll compile our s1kilbirnie Best of the Best list.

For example, after this year's Christmas lights switch-on, Joan Perry reminded us of the often unrecognised contribution of our Kilbirnie Town Centre Management Initiative. So let's start with a word of thanks to everyone involved and everything they've done for the town since the group was set up in September 2000!

Radio City restoring the derelict bingo hall back to the fantastic building it was.

Kevin Gibson says

The new Tesco opening in the town centre. Along with Radio City and the Bookies moving into the old templetons it improved the look of the cross no end. The first Christmas night when the tree was moved back to the cross was brilliant and a really good atmosphere with the local shops and businesses open and welcoming. Bob Padbury dressed as Santa giving out stuff to the kids for free.

Happy Bunny says

The beautiful flowers we see planted up both in the public park, town centre and other places throughout the town during spring and summer. The litter free town centre thanks to the guys who are out every day clearing up no matter the weather.

Kester Fernando says

The excellent sledging facilities (Big Park) :-)
