From this Sunday the A760 at Bridge Street in Kilbirnie will be closed from 7am to 7pm. This is to enable resurfacing and restoration of road markings. The road works should be completed over the course of four Sundays (excluding the September 21 weekend).

(A760 Bridge Street, Kilbirnie) (Temporary Closure) Order 2008

On the 29th August 2008 North Ayrshire Council made the above-named Order under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will make it unlawful for any person to drive or cause or permit to be driven any motor vehicle (except vehicles associated with the carriageway resurfacing works) on the A760 Bridge Street (from mini-roundabout at School Wynd/Townhead to Police Station Roundabout), Kilbirnie by reason of works proposed to be executed on or near that road.

The Order will come into operation SUNDAYS ONLY from 0700 hours until 1900 hours on the following dates:

Sunday 7, 14 and 28 September 2008 and
Sunday 5 and 12 October 2008
(It is anticipated that the works will only take 4 Sundays to complete).

No Waiting and No Loading At Any Time will be implemented by means of No Waiting Cones on the following roads in Kilbirnie, B780 Main Street, A760 School Wynd, A760 Bridgend, Garnock Street, Mill Road and Townhead

(Note that the Order will be in effect only when indicated by the display of appropriate signs in accordance with the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002)

Alternative Route:-

The diversionary route for eastbound traffic (travelling from Largs or north of Bridge Street) is via B784 Swinlees Road, B780 Dalry Road to Holmhead Roundabout (Kilbirnie) and B780 Main Street to rejoin A760 at the roundabout south of Bridge Street at the Police Station.
Westbound traffic should proceed in the opposite direction.
