Firefighters called to Kilbirnie cooker blaze
Firefighters were called to a kitchen blaze in Kilbirnie following reports of a smoke alarm sounding and a strong smell of burning.
Crews from Dalry, Beith and Kilbirnie were alerted to the fire in the Bankfaulds Avenue area, at around 8.05pm on Wednesday, February 8
One male, who had made his own way out of the building before firefighters arrived, was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the blaze, which was caused by a pot that had been left on a cooker, and then ventilated the flat to make it safe.
A spokesperson for Strathclyde Fire and Rescue said: “Remember, if you don't have a smoke alarm or know a relative, friend or neighbour who doesn't have one, the local fire crew will fit one free of charge.”
