Council commit to Flood Prevention scheme and new school campus

North ayrshire council agreed its budget for 2012-13 in a heated meeting at cunninghame House today.

Minority Labour controlled Council  guaranteed to fund the new Garnock school campus and to set £2m aside to bid for flood prevention in Upper Garnock Valley (now over to SNP Government!!).
Labour (12 cllrs out of 30) did not lose a vote for the second year in a row and agreed to increase the minimum Living Wage for its staff to £7.20 per hour and to add almost £500,000 to its Apprenticeship/Graduate fund and £1,1m extra for economic development. Also agreed to spend £150,000 more on adoption and £400,000 for family support 
Other NAC highlights are an increase of only 2.25% on Council House rents, 500 new Council houses over the next 10 years.
