I have access to the Western Supplement and Advertiser of 1917. This was Beith's town newspaper, later renamed more appropriately, The Beith Supplement. There were reports of events in Kilbirnie, Dalry and Beith on regular occasions, especially important events such as war deaths and acts of bravery. Once I get a spare minute, I will have a look and see if I can find any relevant information and get back to you. You may wish to forward contact details. Cheers.

Was he born 1887?  If it is he has around 50 pages in his Army Records.  Quite alot of info.  Listed as originating from Longbar  signed up 1906 to the Royal Scot Fus.  Number 8744.  Father Thomas, School Wynd. Promoted corporal 1915.  Awarded Victory, British and Star.  Awarded Military Medal! 1st & star.

Trained as strecher bearer, injured twice 14 & 16.  Served in S Africa India French front.  Enlisted Ayr discharged Hamilton 1819.  Seems to then work with Convilles as a furnceman.

Memories, Nostalgia & History

History doesn't have to be in black & white

Your memory of a local character or a school photo from the last ten years can be just as interesting as wars and Victorians.
