Conga

by Archie McMillan

Summer was a gid time at the school holidays,

we didnt go abroad we just went for a swim in the Conga,i realise its not the same place now ,but i remember the more brave among us used to jump of the redhugh wall.

I also remember the Dicle was deap enough for a wee swim{unlike now} and going up to the puddocks pond for tadpoles. sadly those innocent days are long gone ,but there still fresh in my mind.

Well said Archie.....Times are a changing, but the memories last for ever.

Being a Fudstone boy "Jocks Burn" was our little bit of seaside.

Wether it being on a rope swing intae the deep end, Ginnelin for fish or sneekin up into the golf club for the unlucky golf balls that have taken a dooken, then selling them back to golfers at the gate.

remember all these and going further up stream to the robin and the shephards was a bit of a dam as well that was deep and good for a dunk .  A bottle of diluted orange and some pals was all that was needed - do recall getting sunburn, though this was a bit of a medal of honour!!!

Memories, Nostalgia & History

History doesn't have to be in black & white

Your memory of a local character or a school photo from the last ten years can be just as interesting as wars and Victorians.
