CRAIG THIS IS DAVY JOHNSTONE AGAIN , THERE WERE ACTUALLY FIVE BOYS IN THE CAR AND ONE OF THEM SURVIVED , IT WAS SUCH A TRAGIC ACCIDENT

DAVID JOHNSTONE says

HI CRAIG DAVY HERE AGAIN , BILLY HOOD WAS FROM THE MILTON , MARK HAMPSON WAS FROM THE MILTON , IAN SWINDLE WAS FROM THE FUDSTONE AND I THOUGHT THAT THE BOY ROONEY WAS FROM THE MILTON CANNOT REMEMBER THE OTHER BOYS NAME , THE BOY THAT SURVIVED ONLY DID BECAUSE OF THE THREE BOYS IN THE BACK HE WAS IN THE MIDDLE AND HAD TO BE CUT OUT  OF THE CAR. IT WAS BILLYS FIRST CAR , A FORD ESCORT I BELIEVE . AS FAR AS WE KNOW BILLY AND THE BOYS WERE COMING FROM THE SLIP ROAD ONTO THE MOTORWAY OR DUAL CARRIAGEWAY WHEN THE CAR STALLED AND AN ONCOMING LORRY STRUCK THEM FROM BEHIND PUSHED THEM ALONG THEN DOWN AN EMBANKMENT AND LANDED ON TOP OF THE CAR . ALL VERY SADLY MISSED

Hi, I'll never forget that day. It was 2nd August 1989. The boys that were killed were, Billy Hood, Ian Swindle, David Roonie, and Mark Hampson. Joe McCluskey was the only one to survive. My best friend Irene Donnachie was engaged to Ian Swindle and he just got the place in the car when another boy couldn't go!!. I was pregnant at the time and my son was born 6wks 3days after that tragic day. Irene allowed me to give my son Guy "Ian" as a middle name. Your right David it truely was a tragic accident

Memories, Nostalgia & History

History doesn't have to be in black & white

Your memory of a local character or a school photo from the last ten years can be just as interesting as wars and Victorians.
